The STEM~Net Class Project Network
Hook, Line and Net '95
August 22, 1995
1994-95 was the pilot phase of the STEM~Net Class Project
Network.
It supported a total of 65 Class Projects, covering all grade
levels, most subject areas and most parts of Newfoundland and
Labrador.
"susie", serves as the class project network and
will support the Schoolnet RINGS pilot this year.
"susie" is the same type of computer as calvin except
it has less disk space at the moment. It will support a graphical
interface in the coming year.
The Class Project Network serves K-12 classes and their Project
Leaders for approved online projects.
Project Leaders can have whole classes or groups of students
participate in projects on this network through user permits issued
in the teacher's name.
The number of accounts is determined by the nature of the
project, school resources and computer access.
The STEM~Net Class Project Network is intended to support:
i) teacher-led/endorsed projects
ii) participation in established projects on SchoolNet
or the Internet
The STEM~Net Class Project Network aims to:
1. Increase provincial, national, and global awareness among
students.
2. Provide knowledge and skills associated with computer mediated
communications.

is focused on the ethics and responsibilities associated with
the use of the electronic highway.
