Introduction
to the WWW - First time on the World Wide Web? Don't
be afraid, you are not alone. This session will help you even
if you have never used a computer before. After a brief overview
of what you can expect to find on the Internet we will have
you "surfing". You will learn how to search for information,
print articles and pictures and even how to save all that information
on a disk to look at later. Bill Jameson is a kindergarten teacher
and currently works as the IT Coordinator for the Provincial
Public Library Board.

adults you will learn how to make your very own web page! Create
links, insert images so you can put your special project on

for Beginners (for kids) - Have you ever wanted
to create your own webpage? Students will learn valuable information
on how to create your own webpage, starting from the beginning.
You will learn how to insert images, links and information about
yourself, your friends, your interests or whatever else you
want to add. Once you are finished, you can place it on the
World Wide Web for everyone to visit. Sean Lane is a CAP student
at Port aux Basques and an IS student at St. Francis Xavier
University. Assistant Joshua Gorner is going into Grade 7 at
Frank Roberts Intermediate School.

Photography - Topics included in this session are
how to use and get the best pictures out of your digital camera
and use them in a web page, also how to use digital photography

baby steps - Computers and the Internet are not
just for "big kids"! Little people can use and learn from them
as well. Kevin and Wendy will share some terrific software geared
for the under 10 set. The second half of the session will focus
on "kid-friendly" search engines and Internet sites. Come and

Multimedia
for Beginners - A fun and educational activity
for students which involves the creation of a multimedia product.
Students will create an online greeting card using sound clips
and pictures provided. They will record a 30-second clip of
their own voice, mix it with the background clip and combine
it with a picture on a web page. They will be provided with
a link to this page which friends can visit, to experience the
students multimedia product. This activity will be designed
for a wide range of ages, with ample opportunity for extension

SchoolNet
Programs/Industry Canada - The presentation will
be a tour of SchoolNet and all the programs - specifically how
they relate to teaching and classroom resources. The first part
of the presentation will be a general overview of SchoolNet
and then there will be an interactive session where participants
will go through the web site and have an opportunity to explore
